The Classical Music Performance Department (Western Classical Instruments) is one of the educational departments of the Music faculty under Art University which was founded in 1994, running Graduate programs, the department launched its post-graduate program in 1999, with majors in string instruments, wind instruments, the piano and the classical guitar.

The Department accommodates 400 students, has 4 permanent scholars, namely Mrs. Niloofar Badrikoohi, Mrs. Rebecca Ashooghian (Head of the Department), Mr. Hamid Askari PhD., and Mr. Iman Fakhr, as well as 25 guest instructors on contract basis to fortify the academia. The Department has held national and international educational and research seminars and Webinars hosting a number of renowned scholars and lecturers from Iran and other countries. Our graduates have been brilliantly participating in national and international festivals and competitions such as the Fajr Music Festival, National Youth Music Festival, Saba Music Festival for Students, Art University’s Rooyesh Music Festival, in which they received high ranking stands and awards. Most of our graduates pursue jobs in related music fields and are amongst the outstanding members of music circles in the country.
